Layer Road, Saturday, 3pm

Will a change of name mean a change of luck for Milton Keynes Dons, who make their First visit to play Colchester United at Layer Road for 22 years?

The Dons then known as Wimbledon last visited the U's in November 1982 when they crashed 3-0 to a Roy McDonough brace and an Ian Allinson goal.

They were also crushed 4-0 thanks to goals via Bobby Gough, Trevor Lee and Steve Wignall, plus a Bobby Hodge penalty in October 1979 the only other time the clubs have met in League action at Layer Road.

Ironically the Dons finished bottom of Division Three that season and were relegated, but despite losing to the U's they went on to be crowned Division Four champions the second time around.

Currently managed by Stuart Murdoch, the Dons have not found life easy since being relegated from the old First Division as the bottom club at the end of last season.

They have yet to win in the new Coca Cola League One this term.

They have mustered just five points from a 1-0 home success over Torquay, plus two draws - 1-1 at home to Barnsley and 2-2 at Chesterfield - from their eight games to date.

Only bottom two Blackpool and Stockport are holding up The Dons as Murdoch strives to rebuild his team and a one-goal defeat at home to Doncaster Rovers last week will not have done their spirits much good.

Murdoch could find himself stripped of the services of midfielders Wade Small and Ben Harding, who have both picked up knee injuries in training.

If they miss out it will be a massive blow as Alex Tapp and Gary Smith are already ruled out.

But the U's will still have to be on their guard as strike duo Izale McLeod and Allan Smart have both been on target with three League and cup goals.
