Work to repair Pitsea Flyover is well on track, the county council has said.
Motorists had feared the refurbishment work at the Pitsea flyover on the A13 would cause travel chaos in south Essex, as 58,000 cars and lorries use it daily.
The work, which started in July, was necessary as regular salting of the road in the winter had caused the flyover's concrete to corrode.
Helen Anderson, of Essex County Council, said she was pleased with the way the work was progressing.
She said: "Work on the flyover is currently going to plan and we have not experienced any major problems."
It is expected the contraflow system on flyover will change from the westbound carriageway to the eastbound direction next week.
Julie Gardner, of the Essex Traffic Control Centre, said the roadworks had not been too problematic. She said: "We've got cameras on the flyover and it has been fine.
"On the odd occasion during peak times traffic backs up but it seems to be OK most of the time."
The work is due to be completed by mid-November.
