A £2million injection is set to complete the transformation of a former rubbish tip into a country park.
It is hoped the cash will bring facilities such as refreshment stalls, a souvenir shop and toilet blocks to Canvey Heights Country Park.
A business plan will now be drawn up detailing the future of area after Thames Gateway bosses announced they were prepared to release the money.
The park, at Newlands, opened in April 2003 after Castle Point Council revamped the area from an amenity site into a park full of trees, shrubs and wildlife.
