A mid-Essex woman has returned home uninjured after experiencing the devastation of Hurricane Ivan.
The powerful hurricane has been sweeping across the Caribbean causing death and destruction.
Julie Norcliffe was caught up in the chaos as she holidayed in Grenada.
She has now arrived back in England having escaped the hurricane.
It is belived the hurricane has claimed the lives of 60 people so far in winds which have reached up to 155mph.
Visitors from the UK, America and other countries, took shelter in hotels and initial reports from the Jamaican Tourist Board indicated these visitors remained unharmed.
Trees have been uprooted, buildings damaged and the winds have caused extensive flooding.
The hurricane had at one stage been categorised in class five, when winds were recorded at 165mph on Saturday night.
Julie Norcliffe, 35, of Oxen End, Little Bardfield, flew home from Grenada into Gatwick Airport on Saturday and spent most of Sunday and today in bed after her traumatic experience.
