About 70 campaigners staged a vigil for peace at Colchester War Memorial
Colchester Peace Campaign was pleased with the turnout and the interest shown by passers-by on Saturday afternoon.
The vigil, on the anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attacks in the US, was for all people who have died in conflicts because of it.
Campaigner Emilia Polman said: "A lot of people were interested in what we were doing."
The one-hour vigil passed without incident
