More than 40 elderly residents living in sheltered accommodation schemes in Wickford benefited from a troop of volunteers who spruced up their homes.
A team of 10 volunteers from Ford's Dunton Research Centre made their way to Wickford to decorate the communal areas of Halstead Court to help give a fresh feel to the well-used room, lifting the spirits of the 42 residents who are delighted with their new surroundings.
Working in partnership with Basildon District Council's regeneration services, employees at Ford have been donating their time to help improve the quality of life for residents throughout the district.
A council spokesman said: "This unique partnership has proved to be an outstanding success with residents directly benefiting from this joint venture."
Any local businesses that would like to become involved in helping the community should call the council's regeneration services on 01268 294413.
