The last evening bus from Southend to Great Wakering leaving at 8pm is being reinstated thanks to the intervention of a district councillor.
At the end of July Arriva withdrew the 4A service which left Southend at 8pm, because they said it wasn't being used enough.
Trevor Goodwin, Conservative Rochford district councillor for Foulness and Great Wakering, approached Essex County Council to see if there was something they could do.
He said the axing of the service would make it more difficult for people working in Southend to get back home.
The council will now be subsidising the service and it will run again starting November 1.
Mr Goodwin said: "I hope people will be pleased with what I've done. Hopefully, it will give people something to use. "We didn't know about the service was being withdrawn, until it was done."
