People who flout parking restrictions in the Braintree district will run a greater risk of being caught and fined.
Braintree council agreed to decriminalised parking enforcement at last night's meeting at Causeway House, Bocking End.
From October 1, the council will take over responsibility for issuing parking fines from the police.
This means parking in restricting areas will no longer be a criminal offence and, instead of police traffic wardens issuing fines, council wardens will do it.
But there will be more of them, which means people who flout the parking regulations are more likely to be caught.
