An 86-year-old woman had her handbag stolen by youths after they called at her Colchester home.
The crime was reported in Kendall Terrace, Colchester, at about 5.05pm on Tuesday and police have now issued descriptions of two suspects.
They were described as white and about 18 or 19 years of age. One of the youths had dark hair, a white T-shirt and dark trousers while the other one may have been wearing a navy-coloured jacket.
About half an hour before that, two men had called at a home in Earls Colne saying they were carers. They talked their way in before fleeing with £250.
They were both teenagers, Mediterranean-looking and one was wearing a white T-shirt.
Anyone with information about the crimes should call Colchester police on 01206 762212 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111
