Residents of a mid-Essex village are getting their hands dirty to keep their environment clean and tidy.
Silver End (South) Tenants and Residents Association has become the latest community in Braintree district to join a partnership agreement in helping the district council keep their streets and open spaces clean and free from litter.
The tenants and residents will be emptying litter bins each week and reporting any damage or problems to the council's customer services department for attention.
Representatives of the association signed the agreement last week and were presented with their first consignment of sacks and gloves.
Roger Walters, Braintree Council's cabinet member for the environment, said: "We welcome partnership initiatives by tenants and residents to help keep our streets clean and attractive."
