Honywood School, in Westfield Drive, has become a "leading edge" school which will see it working with St Peter's School in Myneer Park, Coggeshall, and Earls Colne Primary School, Park Lane, Earls Colne.
It is one of 200 secondary schools in the country to have won the status which generates an extra £180,000 for the school over a three-year period.
Simon Mason, headteacher at Honywood School, said: "We are immensely proud to have been selected by the Government to participate in such an exciting scheme."
