A pub dubbed Colchester's "most violent" has pulled the plug on plans to extend its opening hours.
Councillors were due to decide at a meeting tomorrow night whether The Wig and Pen could open until midnight on Mondays, Wednesdays and Sundays, and 1am on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
But the High Street watering hole has withdrawn the application.
It shelved an initial bid in July after police reported they had been called to more violent incidents there than anywhere else.
And manager Ray Martin said he decided yesterday to back down again after officers objected to the new application on the same grounds.
