Robbers pushed a security guard to the ground and escaped with several thousand pounds in a robbery at Lakeside Shopping Centre.
The 26-year-old uniformed Securicor guard was at the centre to fill an cashpoint and was jumped on in an open air car park by two men at 10.30pm on Friday.
They shouted at him and shoved him to the ground before snatching a cash box from his grasp.
The robbery happened in the car park at the Debenham's end of the complex close to Burger King.
The crooks ran off with the box in a vehicle driven by a third man. The guard was not injured.
They sped off in what is thought to be a dark coloured Land Rover Discovery with an 03 registration and tinted windows.
Two of the men were black and one was white. One was six ft, the other five ft ten ins.
An Essex Police spokesman said: "CCTV footage shows that there were large numbers of people in the vicinity at the time police are hopeful that members of the public will come forward."
