A gang of youths subjected a man to a knifepoint robbery as he returned from a night out in Chelmsford.
The man in his late 20s was walking home through Central Park near the cricket ground when a group of five youths approached him.
They asked him the time and after the man replied he didn't know they told him to check his mobile phone.
As he reached for his phone he was punched in the head, kicked to the ground and threatened with a knife before being robbed of his watch, phone and wallet.
The attack happened on Sunday at 4am and left the man shaken but not seriously injured.
Anyone who saw or heard the robbery contact Dc Clive Emmett on 01245 491212.
