Halstead Town chief Andy Clark believes victory in today's FA Cup clash at East Thurrock United would be one of the best results the club has had for years.

The south Essex side are flying high in the Southern League division one east and will pose a considerable threat to Town's hopes of a cup run.

Clark said: "They are a strong, physical side with good players like Vinnie John, who has scored goals all over the non-league scene.

"They are also doing well in their league, which is a level above ours. Getting a result down there would be a magnificent achievement for our club."

However, Clark says the Rooks are beatable. If we defend well and play to our potential then we can definitely get a result.

"I watched them play Wivenhoe last week and they lost 2-0, having won their previous four games, so we have a chance."

Town followed up a 3-2 win at Gorleston last Saturday with a 2-1 triumph at home to Harwich and Parkeston in midweek.

If the game ends in a draw the replay will take place at Rosemary Lane on Tuesday (7.45pm).
