A revolutionary new proof-of-age card was yesterday launched for children and young people across Essex.
Called Bite (Be Identified Throughout Essex), the new card was the brainchild of the Young Essex Assembly, which has worked on the project with Essex County Council.
Trading Standards officers have been working for six weeks demonstrating the cards to newsagents, off-licences and supermarkets. The new card incorporates the old proof of age card and the library cards as well as offering something entirely new in its own right.
It comes in three different versions for three different age groups and works as a:
Library card that gains the user discounted DVD rentals
Transport card to prove eligibility for age-related transport discounts
Proof-of-age card for shopping
Proof-of-age card that can be built on in the future for other discount schemes and for other services.
