AGHAST, the Action Group for Householders Against Speeding and Traffic, has issued a call for changes to be made to Fambridge Road.
The Maldon group has written to Julie Martyn, Essex County Council's area highway manager, targeting five issues for immediate attention.
The people of Fambridge Road residential section, Roundbush, said a 30mph speed limit, speed cameras and a village gateway sign are needed.
They want safe corridors, verges to walk on and all lorries and tourist traffic on the A12 to be directed back to the A130.
Their largest plea is for the S-bends in the road to be straightened out.A letter sent in February 2004 was unanswered but the group wants the matters addressed.
An Essex County Council spokeswoman said any such suggestions would have to meet speed management strategy criteria."We will always respond to any requests made and look into every possibility," she added.
