A teenager who was given Maldon police's first anti-social behaviour order (Asbo) has been sent to a detention centre for four months after repeatedly breaching its conditions.
Glenn Freeman, 14, of North Street, Maldon, appeared at Witham Youth Court on Friday and admitted seven breaches of the Asbo between April 13 and June 5 this year. Two further charges of a breach were dropped during a later hearing that day.
The court heard how Freeman was repeatedly seen with three teenagers he was banned from associating with as part of the Asbo's conditions.
He also failed to follow other conditions, including not entering the Upper Plume School campus and areas in White Horse Lane, the court heard.
Freeman was given the Asbo in April this year after a hearing at the same court.
Matthew Taylor, mitigating, said Freeman found it hard to stick to the conditions of not meeting three youngsters he was banned from seeing. He said Freeman had not been taking the Asbo seriously but is now intending to treat it as such.
