A gun was pointed in the face of a betting shop manager during a terrifying daylight raid.

The raider burst into the Coral's betting shop on Woodgrange Drive, Southend at 6.05pm on Saturday.

The robber leapt over the counter and pointed the black handgun at the frightened 53-year-old assistant manager demanding cash.

A man who was also working at the shop came out of a back room and was also threatened with the gun before the raider snatched £75 from the till.

While the robbery was taking place, an accomplice stood by the door to the shop acting as a lookout.
