Police have appealed for witnesses to a road accident in which a cyclist died.
The man, a 56-year-old from Braintree, was riding along Pod's Brook Road, on the outskirts of the town on a battery-assisted pedal bike just before 11.30am on Thursday, when it was involved in a collision with an Iveco lorry.
A 36-year-old truck driver, of Colchester, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and released on police bail until early December pending further inquiries.
Senior investigating officer Insp Mark Harman, of Bocking road policing unit, said police would like to speak to the driver of a silver Ford Escort car, which stopped at the scene to help the victim but left without speaking to police officers.
Police have appealed for the occupants of the Ford Escort or anyone else with information in connection with the crash to contact Bocking road policing unit on 01376 330722.
