Six young people were today lucky to be alive after their car ploughed into a lamp post in Southend early today.
Three men and three women, all between 17 and 20 years old, were rushed to hospital with broken limbs when their Vauxhall Cavalier hit the lamp post in Prittlewell Chase at about 1.30am.
Four ambulances and an incident support officer attended the scene.
Paramedic Neil Storey said: "The car was extensively damaged and two of the passengers had been ejected.
Most of them suffered broken limbs and one suffered serious facial injuries but they were all lucky to be alive."
