Richard Garcia has only seen Colchester United play twice, but already he confidently believes the U's can go on to win promotion.
Classy debut - Richard Garcia in action against Swindon
"That and the fact Colchester play good football is one of the reasons why I left West Ham to come and play here," said the classy Australian Under-23 international.
"Put it down to the Aussie winning attitude if you want, but if I didn't believe that I wouldn't have dropped down a division to play for Colchester."
Attacking midfielder Garcia enjoyed a sparkling debut in the U's one-goal home defeat against Swindon Town on Saturday his 23rd birthday - less than 24 hours after rubber-stamping his move from Upton Park in a two-year deal to bring him to Layer Road.
Former Chelsea striker Sam Parkin netted Swindon's only goal.
Garcia said: "When I saw Colchester play in pre-season I was very impressed by the way they set about their football.
"I also liked manager Phil Parkinson's ambitions, about how he wanted to play his football, and the whole vibe around the club is very positive."
