Fire crews fought three major house blazes - including one in Gurney Benham Close, Colchester - over the weekend.
Luckily, no-one was seriously harmed in any of the fires.
Fire ripped through the kitchen of a bungalow in Godmans Lane, Marks Tey, in the early hours while the occupants were asleep.
A fire service spokesman said it was thought the fire was caused by an electrical fault.
A family has been made temporarily homeless after a blaze ripped through a house in Earls Colne while the owners were away at work. Two fire engines from Halstead attended the fire in Park Lane, Earls Colne, at about 8.30am on Saturday, and four firefighters equipped with breathing apparatus tackled the blaze.
The cause of the blaze is being investigated.
