Lifeguards were praised today after they pulled an unconscious woman from a swimming pool and helped to save her life.
The 48-year-old woman almost drowned after suffering a diabetic attack. The incident happened on Saturday afternoon at the Orchard's Holiday Park in Point Clear Road, St Osyth.
The lifeguards dragged her from the pool at the park. Then they fought to save her life for several minutes with mouth-to-mouth resuscitation before the woman came round.
Air crew paramedic Laurie Phillipson praised the efforts of the people who carried out the rescue. He said: "We would like to pay tribute to the lifeguards at the holiday park.
"Their quick reactions undoubtedly saved the woman from coming to serious harm."
While at hospital, the woman was given an X-ray to check for water inhalation, but she was found to be breathing much better.
