Hundreds of scarecrows will be massing in Gosfield this weekend when the village holds its third annual Scarecrow Trail and Activity Weekend.
Essex Air Ambulance, which last year benefited by £3,500, is once again the charity chosen by the award-winning event.
Village artist Georgie Roy, the event founder, and her committee have been preparing for the weekend for more than five months.
Georgie is hoping that last year's record number of 350 scarecrows will be surpassed. For the first time there is a trophy for public house entries and a prize for pairs of scarecrows.
Entry forms can be obtained from the village newsagent, by telephoning 01787 472803 or by calling at 48 Halstead Road, Gosfield.
