Hacked-off jackpot hunters are insisting their bingo club stays put.
Nearly 2,000 Gala Bingo customers have signed petition forms protesting against plans to move the business from its base in Osborne Street.
As part of Colchester Council's plan for an art gallery to replace the bus station in Queen Street, a new depot could be built on the site of the bingo hall, and an alternative home found elsewhere.
But members fear the scheme could jeopardise the club's future.
General manager Steve Power delivered the bundle of their signatures to the town hall, in High Street, yesterday. He pledged to fight the proposal tooth and nail.
He said: "We're thrilled with the response from our members."
But council officers insist that if the club does have to move, a suitable new home will be found for it.
