An ambulance technician has revealed his nightmare at discovering fraudsters had completely drained his bank account.

The victim, of Colchester, said he had no clue cash card criminals were stealing £250 a day from him.

The man, in his 40s, said he was careful when making withdrawals and had no idea how thieves got access to his account.

The victim, who asked not to be named, said: "I didn't realise it had happened. I checked my account and found out it had been drained. I didn't see anyone. I can only assume somebody looked over my shoulder at the pin number or got hold of a statement but I'm very careful with things like that."

£750 was withdrawn from his account over three days. His bank, Lloyds TSB, is running an internal investigation.

The victim said: "They say I'm covered and should get my money back. But the cards weren't lost or anything. I had no way of knowing."

Police have warned people to be on their guard for cash card fraudsters.
