One man who knows all about the potential danger of key Scarborough midfielder Neil Redfearn is Canvey Island coach Glenn Pennyfather.

For the duo were team-mates at Crystal Palace during the Gulls assistant manager 's playing days at Selhurst Park.

Pennyfather said: "We're talking about 17 years ago and Neil would have been about 22 at the time.

"He was always a very fit lad and superb striker of the ball. He'll still be a danger and one to watch out for."

Redfearn, perhaps best known for his spells with Charlton and Barnsley in the Premiership, is now aged 39.

But, although being assistant to former Oldham midfielder Nicky Henry on the coaching side, Redfearn is still making a major contribution on the playing front.

In fact, the veteran of more than 750 League games and 162 goals, has hit the net four times in five matches as the Seadogs have taken 10 Conference points.

Henry has expressed the wish to make Scarborough's McCain Stadium a fortress -- but the travelling Gulls party are determined that the chips won't be down for them as they continue their much-travelled start to life at the highest level of the non-league game.
