Wickford may have already gained promotion to the Premier as champions of the Shepherd Neame League First Division but they have already got next season in their sights

"Plans are already under way to bring new players in to add to the squad for next season as playing in the Premier is an entirely different ball game," said cricket manager Mark Everitt.

"Apart from the earlier starts, the opposition is that much tougher. Last time we were there we got relegated and then went down straight after into Division Two.

"This time we're confident we'll be better prepared, but for now we want to reflect on what we've done this season.

"The players have performed really well, have been unbeaten all season, and have brought great credit to the club."

Wickford, who have gone up as title holders for a second successive term, finish the season with a trip to a Chingford side who, with the right result, could yet rob Hornchurch of the second promotion spot.

Hadleigh & Thundersley have confirmed their First Division position and could finish the season on a winning note tomorrow when they go to already-relegated Harlow.

Main interest in this division centres on Orsett's visit to Walthamstow.

The two are battling to avoid the second relegation spot and Orsett, who have launched a superb revival in recent weeks, will be favourites to stay up.
