A judge has told a man that the people of Clacton need a rest from his drunken behaviour.
Paul Scott was seen in the town's Co-op drinking, and later on he upset staff and customers in Specsavers.
The 31-year-old was supposed to be sober under the terms of an Anti-Social Behaviour Order (Asbo). But a court heard that when police picked him up four weeks ago, it was the seventh time Scott had breached the order since it was imposed last October.
Scott, of North Road, Clacton, was jailed for 18 months after he admitted breaking the order.
Recorder Peter Fenn told him: "The time has come when the people who live and work in Clacton need a break from your anti-social behaviour."
Chelmsford Crown Court heard the order was imposed last October, with conditions Scott stayed sober and did not use certain shops or approach certain people.
Noel Casey, mitigating, said: "He's been drinking heavily for the past 15 years and has been unable to address his alcohol problem."
