Colchester United boss Phil Parkinson has been told he will be given cash to spend from the sale of Wayne Andrews to Crystal Palace.
The striker completed his move late on transfer deadline day for a six-figure sum, boosting the coffers at Layer Road.
And the U's board have faith in Parkinson to invest cash in new talent, according to chief executive Marie Partner.
She said: "If the manager feels there is a player that will continue to take the club forward, I don't think there would be any hesitation from the board that if it's the right signing money would be made available."
Partner added: "We feel confident that Phil has got a good network out there and knows what he is looking for. The board have trust and faith in him after what he has done in the transfer market so far."
