A cyclist died of "massive injuries" after the bike he was riding was involved in a collision with a truck.
Tragedy - the scene of the fatal accident
The man, a 56-year-old from Braintree, was riding along Pod's Brook Road on the outskirts of the town when the crash happened.
Police sealed off the road for more than two hours as an investigation was launched. The 36-year-old truck driver, of Colchester, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, taken to Braintree police station for questioning and was released on police bail.
The Iveco lorry was delivering food to hospitals and was due to make its last stop at nearby St Michael's Hospital when it was involved in a collision with the battery-assisted pedal bike, just before the roundabout with Rayne Road and Springwood Drive.
