A Labour councillor has hit out at the way the Post Office is releasing news of further closures in Southend.
Kevin Robinson, Southend Labour group Leader, claims the company are set on closing all 12 post offices under threat but are intent on "dragging out the agony."
His outburst follows news that Chase Road and the Strand Post Offices are due to shut.
Mr Robinson said: "When the Post Office representatives visited our scrutiny committee they said one of their main intentions was to keep the good name of the Post Office.
"I am coming to the conclusion they did not want to give us the bad news all in one go."
