Posters have gone up around Witham but the councillor featured in them says they are nothing to do with him.
The bills have been glued to BT cabinets, fences and telephone poles in the Armond Road and Chipping Hill area of the town. They say - Michael Lager, a strong voice, caring for the environment.
They also carry a non-existent website address.
Posters were first stuck up around the same area four weeks ago but Mr Lager, Braintree District Council's deputy leader and member of Chipping Hill and Central ward, said they were nothing to do with him or his office and called it ''totally bizarre''.
This time his wife Clare said: ''We haven't a clue who is doing this. It seems totally pointless.''
The district council's clean team is expected to remove them as soon as possible.
