Coastal councillors have called for no let-up in the battle against street vandals.
Tendring councillors welcomed the wider use of Anti Social Behaviour Orders. A Prolific and Priority Offenders' scheme targeting repeat offenders is due to be introduced nationally later this month which is hoped will reduce crime figures.
A number of measures are in place to reduce violent crime including Pubwatch, Town Centre Action, radio systems and CCTV. Various new initiatives to tackle car crime are being introduced by the council over the coming months, a cabinet meeting heard yesterday.
The cabinet agreed they were making "a significant contribution" to tackling crime and disorder in terms of services such as street lighting, leisure activities, licensing, CCTV and the removal of abandoned vehicles.
