Concerns have been raised over the build-up of mud and stones outside a hospital where rebuilding work is being carried out.
Work has been going on at Harwich Hospital, in Main Road, Dovercourt, for nearly two months but last week several people expressed concern about the amount of debris collecting nearby.
In particular, district and town councillor Dave Rutson said he believed the material could cause a hazard to road users and people walking on the pavement.
He said: "Stones can flick up and smash windscreens and there is a highways danger to other cars and pedestrians."
A spokesman for Essex County Council said the authority was keeping a close eye on the situation.
Work on the hospital began in July and it is expected to be completed by 2006.
