Matt Carmichael was on target in HALSTEAD TOWN'S 2-1 win over his old club HARWICH AND PARKESTON last night.

The former Shrimper, who moved to Rosemary Lane in the summer, scored his team's second goal in this Ridgeons League premier division derby.

Carmichael fired home Colchester United loanee Craig Johnston's cross to put Halstead 2-0 up after minutes.

Simon Head had earlier given the hosts the lead when he nodded home Kevin Inglis' cross.

However, Mitchell Springett's team came back into the game and Michael Lyness reduced the arrears on the half-hour mark.

Both teams plugged away after this, but neither could add to the scoresheet, even though Ben Cranfield should have done after a cross from Carmichael.

CLACTON TOWN were dumped out of the FA Cup in an extra preliminary round replay with Potters Bar last night.

A 25-yard strike from former Braintree Town transfer target Richie Howard after only 17 minutes was enough to win the game for the Londoners.

Dave Barefield forced the visitors' keeper into a tremendous save seven minutes later and Keith Hetherington and Mark Towse also went close.

Barefield spurned a great chance to score with just ten minutes to go before Steff Falla struck the post with a great 35-yard shot.

STANWAY ROVERS entertain Hadleigh tonight in the Ridgeons League division one.
