What do you think about Chelmsford?A major new survey is being undertaken by Chelmsford Borough Council aimed at gathering views on the borough, the council and the services provided.

Over the next few weeks consultants MORI are visiting more than 800 residents selected to represent a cross-section of the borough's population.

Residents will be asked to consider their attitudes towards the services provided by the council, their knowledge about what services are provided, and their levels of satisfaction.

The survey will build on the results of similar studies carried out by Chelmsford Borough Council and other councils across the UK, and will enable Chelmsford to determine how attitudes have changed over the years.

Cllr Tony Sach, cabinet member for communications, explained: "This survey is a very important part of the borough council's continuing commitment to consulting residents and involving them in helping make decisions on key services affecting us all.

"It will help our understanding of how local people feel about the borough and its services, and ensure we can address these issues when forming plans and policies for the future."

All answers to questions will be treated in the strictest confidence, with only MORI having access to personal information about individuals.

MORI interviewers will carry photographic identification badges and an official council introductory letter.
