Police want to trace a Southend assistant store manager who has vanished following the disappearance of £6,000 from the premises.
Ian Squire, 37, from Harrier Close, Shoebury was due to cash up on his own on Sunday at Farmfoods in the Greyhound Industrial Estate.
When staff turned up early the next day there was no sign the work had been done or that paperwork had been completed.
Store manager Claire Watts said: "I came in on Monday at 5.30am. There was no sign of the tills having been cashed up. I rang the area manager who told me to open up the safe and there was nothing inside."
Police have visited Mr Squire's wife in Shoebury to see if they can gain any clues to his disappearance. Anyone who knows where he is can call police on 01702 431212.
