A tipsy teenager sparked a major rescue bid after he went into a river for a swim.
An RAF helicopter, police and coastguards were called to Brandy Hole Yacht Club in Hullbridge after his father became worried at around 3pm on Friday.
The teenager, who is from the Rochford area, got into the Crouch and climbed on to a moored yacht before getting back into the water.
Eventually RNLI crews caught up with him and managed to take him to shore where an ambulance took him to Southend Hospital.
