An MP has hit out at Royal Mail after the closures of two more post offices were announced.

Despite many calls to keep them open, the branch on the corner of Chase Road and Southchurch Road, and second branch on Southchurch Road in Southend will shut down in the near future.

Sir Teddy Taylor, MP for Rochford and Southend East, has campaigned to keep the offices open.

He said: "It's very disappointing. They seem to have made up their mind. It's going to be a nightmare for disabled and elderly people."

Royal Mail defended its decision to close down the branches. Drew McBride, head of area, said they had carefully considered the original proposal on an individual basis while taking into account the needs of the area.
