A man died when his car hit a tree.
The 34-year-old, of Mistley, was driving a Vauxhall Vectra between Wrabness and Bradfield on the B1352 when his car left the road
Emergency services went to the scene close to Spinnel's Farm at Wix shortly after the accident at 10.15pm on Saturday, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
A 14-year-old boy, a passenger in the car, suffered serious leg injuries and had to be taken to Colchester General Hospital by ambulance. He was today said to be in a stable condition.
Fire crews, including engines from Manningtree and Dovercourt, helped at the scene and ambulance crews from Weeley, Colchester and Harwich were also called in.
A spokesman at Manningtree fire station said the car had hit a tree and the wreckage ended up in a nearby cornfield.

A Braintree man is fighting for his life after the car he was driving flipped over on the A120 at Dunmow.
Yesterday's crash happened on the eastbound carriageway after the driver lost control of his Ford Mondeo car just prior to the Dunmow West junction.
