It's not called spectacular for nothing.
The 2004 Chelmsford Spectacular started and finished with a bang, with chart toppers The Sugababes headlining the opening night of the annual event.
Supported by Tyler James, Big Brovaz and former Fame Academy resident Lemar, the musical extravaganza got off to a poptastic start on Saturday.
Despite having to negotiate patches of thick mud on the walk down to the stage, more than 6,000 music lovers made their way to Hylands Park, Chelmsford, for the concert.
Tracey Hughes, a spokesman for Chelmsford Borough Council, which organised the event, said the number would have been considerably higher had it not been for the miserable weather.
"Everyone there had a really good time and so did the artists," she said.
"We were pleased with the turnout but I think ticket sales would have been better if the weather had been different."
