More than 100,000 spectators were wowed by awesome aerobatics at Clacton Air Show.

The two-day event has been hailed a high-flying success despite bad weather on the second day threatening to hold back the crowds.

The display, which costs around £80,000 for Tendring Council to stage, set off to a flying start with around 70,000 pairs of eyes on the first day to watch the show.

At least a further 30,000 braved rain on the second day to see the seafront spectacular.

Low clouds meant the death-defying Red Arrows, who appeared on both days, had to do a scaled down version of their display.

Terry Allen, Tendring Council leader, said the annual event in its 13th year proved itself as good as ever.

At least 80 per cent of the event funding is paid for through sponsorship and only subsidised with about £12,000 of taxpayers money.
