A robber with an eight-inch knife held up a village post office then fled with thousands of pounds.

The raid happened at Thorrington Post Office in Clacton Road, Thorrington, yesterday afternoon.
An Essex Police spokesman said: "A young man entered the shop wielding a knife approximately eight inches in length and threatened staff before demanding cash.
"He made off with several thousand pounds leaving in the direction of Clacton."
