More than 50 youngsters picked up their clubs to compete at Benfleet's Boyce Hill in the club's annual Cadet Championship.

Rob Worthington, having two excellent rounds of six under and three under off a 10 handicap, won the gross Howe Cup by one shot from John Hanrahan, who plays off five.

In the cadet cup, Adam Soilleux, handicap 13, beat 15-handicapper Billy Field by two shots with a score of 133.

In the Intermediate Trophy gross score Ryan Brommage, off 22, scored 175 to beat Ryan Gale into second place.

The intermediate net prize was won by James Blake by one shot from Mark Spinks.

In the novice boys Rob Masson, net 73, won from Ossie McNee, who was three shots behind.

Joanne Herd won the girls' championship from Tessa Ing.

While the female handicap cup winner was Katy Martin, with Hannah Martin finishing as runner-up.
