A holidaymaker has died despite the desperate efforts of staff at a holiday park and paramedics.
A woman, who is believed to be in her 50s, collapsed after suffering a heart attack in a caravan at the St Osyth Beach Holiday Park, off Beach Road, yesterday.
A spokesman from the Essex Ambulance Service said they were called at just after 3pm.
He said it is believed her son alerted the lifeguards in the nearby swimming pool on the park who immediately came to her aid.
Staff in the emergency operations centre at ambulance headquarters then offered first aid advice over the phone while more help was sent.
The first responder, a rapid response vehicle, land ambulance and the air ambulance were also sent to the scene.
Air crew paramedic Laurie Phillipson praised the tremendous work by the ambulance crew, first responder and lifeguards.
The woman was from the Turnford area, near Enfield.
