A service which gives confidential help and advice for young people set up stall in Braintree town centre to publicise the work it carries out.
The First Stop Centre, based at Bocking End, held a roadshow in George Yard shopping centre yesterda
Supported by Essex Police, a needle exchange was held as part of promoting the safe disposal of used paraphernalia associated with injected drugs.
Clients of the centre exchange used for clean, sterile equipment, and condoms were issued for safe sex.
They also offer learning classes where people can go and learn new skills such as resume and letter writing, and help on how to fill out benefit and other forms.
The centre was established in October 2000 and is open for use by people over 16.
Under 16s are able to use the service but only if accompanied by a parent or guardian.
