Premiership opposition will descend on Layer Road for the next round of the Carling Cup.

Colchester United have drawn newly-promoted West Bromwich Albion in the second round - which is sure to pull in the fans.

U's boss Phil Parkinson said: "I think it's a good tie, one that's attractive for the club and our supporters.

"West Brom have made some good signings over the summer, getting players of the calibre of Kanu."

Parkinson's right-hand man Geraint Williams was quick to echo those sentiments when he said: "West Brom have got quality running through their side.

"I don't know what sort of team Gary Megson (manager) will put out but they'll be a tough side to beat."

Meanwhile, Ipswich Town have been drawn away to Doncaster Rovers.

The games will be played in the week beginning September 20.
