Young angler Jamie Emery hit the carp jackpot when he fished a session at Basildon's Gloucester Park cockle bank.

The 12-year-old landed numerous specimens, but topped the lot with a mirror of 16lb 2oz, before upgrading to a common of 17lb 6oz.

He was fishing with his elder brother Lee, who captured 10 carp himself to a best of 15lb. Both anglers used Lee's homemade fruit flavoured boilies.

Tom Butler spent the entire weekend at the venue, finishing his session with more than 70 carp.

He fished the big bay, casting his homemade boilies tight to the island to keep fish coming regularly throughout his session. His catch included a best of 15lb.

Chris Johnson captured more than 40 carp to a best of more than 15lb. He fished the western end of the island taking his carp on homemade boilies. Rob Payne fished next to Johnson, taking fish to 15lb himself.

Jamie Ferguson enjoyed three hectic sessions at Gloucester Park, recording a total of 28 carp, 12 tench and a big roach.

The highlight was three tench, a big roach, and six carp to a best of 17lb from the canal stretch during his second stint. His pal Matt Reed landed 10 carp and Jamie Mitchell added nine more.
